Will the real philosophers please stand up ?
Are comedians fulfilling a role similar to Philosophers of bygone eras ?
An uneven blend of technology and popularity have made Joe Rogan the man with the largest listening audience in the history of the world. His podcast may rise and fall from the No1 spot from time to time, his rivals are streaming ‘gameplay’ not speaking to the intelligentsia such as Bernie Sanders & Jordan Peterson.
Joe Rogan’s life seems to have played out like three granted wishes of a 6 year old boy child.
I want to be able to beat anyone up….zzZzzap ! A black belt in Taekwondo.
I want to make anyone laugh. zzZzznap… ! Netflix special stand up shows.
I want, any friends, I want. zzZzzing… ! Elon, Jordan, Chapelle.
Joe Rogan has worked hard for his gains, whether or not he has also access to a genie or dark lord is not presently known.
Donald Trump lobbied to have Joe Rogan mediate a presidential debate with his rival Joe Biden. There was a time in history when it would have been unthinkable for a sitting U.S. president to make such requests to ‘a stand up comedian’, at the risk of appearing unserious. Trump went unribbed in the general news media for doing it.
The kind of intellectuals Rogan aspires to converse with and the vastness of his audience make him a risky target to ridicule for mainstream news.
Rogan enters into conversation with a wide variety of guests not just intellectuals. Survivalists, Athletes, Astronauts ect. Although there is a special ‘trade off’ that happens with intellectuals. Intellectuals gain access to Rogan’s massive audience and Rogan gets to qualify himself worthy of hanging out with the ‘great minds’ of the age. Whether Elon Musk is really a ‘great mind’ maybe a misstep for Rogan who goes into ecstatic epiphanies over the incredible genius of Musk. Asserting that Musk’s mind is a super elevated arena of human thought operating at levels rarely experienced in human history. Musk is more like a Willy Wonka of cool man toys. For Rogan to service Elon Musk with such flattery maybe a dangerous augmentation of reality. Elon Musk wants to be liked just as typically as Rogan does. Musk’s boastful adolescent comments on JRE ‘Marujuana doesn’t affect me’ have ringing similarities with Prince Andrew’s ‘I cannot sweat’ statements made in defence of human trafficking allegations show ‘levels of the game’.
Musk is intending to modify humanity by installing brain chips and wants humanity to populate Mars.
That he wants people to think he is unaffectable, means he is not the surest pair of hands to determine all of human destiny, even if his cool self driving cars allow Rogan to practise his ‘bear vocalisations’ without watching the road.
Rogan however, has done allot of good for deserving intellectuals struggling to gain a wider audience and they love him for it.
An affable, well meaning person, struggling to understand the world with a measure of innocent naievity. Rogan’s success inevitably fosters jealously in some, there are many mitigating factors, his self driving Tesla car allowing him more down time to perfect his ‘ grizzly bear vocalisations’ out of the earshot of his wife Jessica.
Philosopher Comedy Kings
A disturbing aspects shared by both of the two U.S. Presidents prior to Biden, both men are genuinely talented stand up comedians. Barrack Obama and Donald Trump truly two rock star type media apparitions.
Obama’s comedic ‘mic drop’ at the 2016 White House correspondent dinner is literal physical comedy yet his responses to his critics throughout his two terms were delivered with a characteristic smoothness often bookended with a punchline.
“Matt Damon said he was disappointed in my performance. Well, Matt, I just saw “Adjustment Bureau.” Right back at you, buddy.” – B. Obama
“It’s like I was shot out of a cannon. I’m so overexposed that I make Paris Hilton look like a recluse.” – B. Obama
“(The pundits) said you can’t win in a year like this with a name like Obama. There was quite a bit of confusion at first, but it did get me free airtime on Al Jazeera.” – B. Obama

Donald Trump’s MAGA rallies are where the sneaky, wiley New Yorker performs his stand up comedy routines, often he makes statements about tickets going faster than whatever famous rock band played the same arena. (his rallies are free but entry is gained by a pre-requested ticket)
Yin & Yang, The Fool and the Wise man,
Pub Philosopher Supreme ? What do you give a man who has everything ? The benefit of the dought perhaps ? As comedy philosophy goes Joe Rogan is where the rubber meets the road.
Move over Rover, Joe Rogan is Yoda in a Skoda.
Whilst Rogan 'formed slowly' overtime Russell Brand transformed like a Marvel super hero. The once flippant brash, crass, playa; still all those things yet with a cape of social conscience.

‘REBRANDMAN’. It seems likely that his prank with T.V, host Johnathan Ross whch sunk Ross’s multi-millon BBC deal, where he phone pranked a beloved actor boasting about having sex with his prostituted granddaughter, as much as sparking national outrage also spiked his own conscience. It seems this event was Russell’s equivalent being bit by a radio-active spider.
REBRANDMAN as charismatic as any Maharishi guru yet with the benefit of the ‘shagging granddaughters’ – already satiated post awakening. Russell Brand has actually done a good job with fierce intelligence satirising current event news stories, with a shiny new gleaming eye on the general well being of humanity. Attempting to protect the public from radio-active media venom. His self proclaimed recovery from substance addiction is more accurately about recovery from deeds performed whilst under the influence.
As modern Philosophers both REBRANDMAN & Yode Rogan obey the rule of straddling the left right political divide thus achieving the impossible. Rogan influenced Brand to take up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. (The only one, of the three Rogan infinity stones, as yet unfulfilled for Russell Brand. “The Kick Ass Stone”.)
REBRANDMAN must be reminded that no Revolutionary in history ever spoke from behind a paywall yet in this cleaved world of Hybrids, GM Humans 2,0 & Neurolink, he gets points for trying…
In a world so maliciously divided politically left & right. With the Trumps and Obamas cleaving us with their irresistible jokes the Philosopher’s stone may be made of Cheese but its cheese we need.
Behold the Philosopher's, Stone, The Rock of Cheeses.
Rogan might be the most listened to man on planet Earth, apparently Dwane “The Rock” Johnson is the most famous living man according to uncited internet sources.
Having acquired the 3 Rogan infinity stones, The Kick Ass stone, the Make Laugh stone, the Great Mates stone. The Rock made his ultimate intentions known that he may run for the U.S. Presidency.
Whilst being fairly certain that Rogan and Brand are beyond the ‘Epstein Island types’, The Rock’s TV sketches about ‘child molesting robots’ creates doubt as to whether he is at least within the influence of Hollywood’s peado weirdos. There is no doubt without the power of popularity born of comedy, Dwayne Johnson would never be able to Jumanji himself into the White House.
Obama has lawyer smarts.
Trump has business smarts.
A Rock with biceps ? Just a cheesy pebble dream…
It might be funny that he thinks he can be POTUS.
With ‘Funny Think’ anything is Possible.
A Rock shoots for the moon !
Its made of cheese.
Dave Chapelle often considered the most naturally talented comedian around is no stranger to power conspiracies. He claimed to have been the victim of Hollyweirdos trying to force him to perform in drag.
His Jokes about senator John Kerry’s shady Skull & Bones membership serves to remind that the senator is a self confessed member of what he describes as ‘the secret organisation’.
Chapelle was awarded the Mark Twain award for comedy.
Mark Twain an american author more quoted than any other for his wise quips “Never pick fights with people who buy ink by the barrel”. This testifies to the power of the news media. Twain a satirist and comic philosopher actually founded the ‘Bohemian Grove’. The famous country retreat which hosted world leaders for sex romps in the woods out of the glare of the media. (As exposed by Alex Jones) Founded apparently for the intention of fostering good will among world leaders who could drop facade and have fun with each other. The Californian redwood resort eventually descended into some kind of……giant owl statues and human mock sacrifice ceremonies resort !
The land has now been sold on to new owners.
Dave Chapelle has acquired new ‘Rogan infinity stones’. He’s been working out. Pumping Iron. Building body. The Kick Ass. stone perhaps in anticipation of trouble from our fractured times.
Warmly genuine and at times insightful Chappelle is definitely a man who would like to see the healing of the people. He is also sacrificing himself on the impossible altar of acceptance for both the left and the right.
Ricky Gervias.
Pharaoh’s sorcerer of ‘funny thinky’.
Let us count his Rogan infinity stones.
Gervias awarded the Kick Ass infinity stone when he fought Grant Bovey in a televised boxing match for charity.
(Grant Bovey was the boyfriend of Anthea Turner who is someone like Ulrika Johnson, who is someone like Holly Willaby.)
As for the ‘Great Mates magic stone’ Gervais’s media power is such that he was able to recruit Robert DeNiro and David Bowie for cameo roles also apparently turning down Madonna. He also wrote insightful dramatic takes on the power and allure of celebrity pals in his show Extras.
His funny bone stone is where our mystery ends and begins.
Ricky Gervias is actually a university educated student of philosophy.
A ninja at navigating political correctness famously calling out Hollyweird, as host of the Golden Globes award ceremonies. You’ll need to be quick and witty to fool tricky Ricky. No coward, his recorded comedy special ‘Politics’ says it on the tin.
As a comedy philosopher Gervais has healed with his comedy yet his actual political sympathies are necessarily disguised. In order to straddle the great political divide.
At his most recent gig (Nov’ 21) fist fights broke out in the ‘post Covid lockdown’ audience
https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/16815759/ricky-gervais-live-gig-fights/
Gervais puts religion on the back burner and leaves the stove burning. He is framing and explaining the world to us. As the world breaks down societally with draconian lockdowns and general political divides the Philosopher Kings of Comedy are upset and vocally so, Gervias, Chapelle, Rogan, have all expressed sincere upset at the possible intentional mismanagement of society, carefully measuring how much of a ‘conspiracy theorist’ they can be without causing damage to their brand. [The answer seems to be as much as they like, so long as they are funny.]
‘The Rock’ the projected hero of many disaster movies unsurprisingly being the more institutionalised type. And Rogan dragging his heals all the way to Texas, having relocated to avoid the lockdowns, grabbing on to each and every passing twig like possibility that there is some benign explanation to all the societal changes taking place.
Foolosophy
Opposites are relatives yet which one is which ?
In a world where Ghandi & Dr M.L. King are unacceptable to the ‘powers that be’, and Tony Blair is an honourable knight we might say white is black and black is white.
So it seems that the real philosophers of the modern era are stand up comedians.
The fools are the wise men.
History has proved that comedy can be weaponised for psychological warfare. British Empire used Irish jokes as psyche warfare. African American slaves dipicted as buffoons to excuse thier mistreatment. Jewish characatures by nazi propagandists for nefarious exploitation. Like most professional comedy the – Philosophy Comedy Kingship – is a largely male dominated domain.
“The profession of philosophy did not always have the narrow and specialised meaning it now has. In ancient Greece it had the very opposite:…”
–William Barrett, Irrational Man (1958)
Eventually as social conditions deteriorate through political fracture and possible war in asia the hopes of the Philosopher Kings will falter including the hopes of the US presidents.
Whilst it maybe refreshing to have ‘real talking’ or funny dude leaders such as Obama or Trump world events have a tendency to ignore the whims and designs of such men and the age of the Philosophy Comedy King will perhaps come to its end. Move over for the coming Elon brain chip technocracy.
As the famous ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope said to his admirer Alexander the Great; when Alexander asked him if there was anything he could do for him. Diogenes replied.
“…could you move out of the way please ?”
